Award-Winning Wines Meet Community Living

Your Hunter Valley Magazine
Bottle of Kelman Vineyard 2024 Tempranillo with grape illustration on label. Contains 750 mL, 13.9% alc/vol. Plain background.

Nestled in a tranquil corner of Pokolbin near Mount View, Kelman Vineyard offers a distinctive blend of premium wines, boutique vineyard experiences, and an innovative residential community concept.

The estate's 23-acre vineyard, planted in 1997 in rich, fertile soil, has produced exceptional wines since its first vintage

in 1999. Kelman quickly established its reputation with its triple medal winning 2000 Semillon, setting a high standard that continues today.

Wine enthusiasts can explore Kelman's impressive range of limited production wines, including outstanding Shiraz, Semillon, Chardonnay, and Tempranillo varieties. The collection extends to innovative blends, sparkling options, Rosé, Moscato, and Liqueur Muscat—all crafted in small batches to ensure quality from each vintage.

What truly sets Kelman apart is its unique integration of vineyard and community. The vines gracefully weave between privately owned properties, creating an extraordinary landscape impossible to replicate elsewhere in Australia. While residents own their homes and land, the community shares ownership of the vines and their fruit, fostering a collective pride and connection to the wines produced.

Visitors can experience Kelman's offerings at their charming cellar door housed in a converted homestead, which is open Friday through Sunday.

Beyond wine tastings, guests can explore the Barrel Room's collection of historical artifacts chronicling the journeys of wine pioneers William Kelman (1800-1863) and James Busby (1800-1871), after whom the vineyard was named in 1996 by founder Stewart Ewen.

Kelman Vineyard represents a perfect harmony between winemaking excellence and community living—a place to visit for a tasting, linger for a weekend, or perhaps even call home. The 100-acre property has evolved into more than just a winery; it's a living testament to how shared passion for viticulture can create something truly special.
