Morpeth Bicentenary at Morpeth Gallery
Morpeth will commemorate the bicentenary of its founding by Lieutenant Edward Charles Close on 20–21 November. Watch artists at work at their easels on the lawn outside Morpeth Gallery, painting Morpeth landscapes
& iconic buildings.
Watch resident artist John Vander painting at his easel. John has created some miniature paintings of Morpeth’s iconic buildings, including St James Church, Morpeth Bridge, Terraces & Bonded Stores, Morpeth House, Closebourne House, Campbell’s Store, Courthouse, Pubs, School, Theatre, Post Office & Main Street.
Art on the Lawn with Emily Lloyd
Emily Lloyd’s Wonnarua acrylic on canvas artwork created for Morpeth’s bicentenary celebrations 1821 - 2021, represents the Barrington Tops National Park Mountains seen in the distance from Morpeth.
Over Morpeth Bicentenary Weekend Emily will be encouraging children to create and colour in their own dot paintings on the lawn outside Morpeth Gallery.
