SADDLE UP

With natural bushland just teeming with native wildlife, not to mention the beauty of the rolling hills and stunning views of the countryside, it’s little wonder that getting off the beaten track to discover the world around us is high on the list of must-do activities.

Slow the pace down a little to take in the Hunter’s amazing scenery by ditching your four wheels in favour of something with a little less horsepower and saddle up for a horse-riding adventure.

At Hunter Valley Horse Riding and Adventures in Lovedale, you can ride the unique and beautiful Molly Morgan Range while experiencing the spectacular views of the countryside as far north as the Barrington Tops.

Whether you’re an old hand on horseback or not, there’s a ride for every experience level, with the 1 and 1.5-hour guided trail rides being the most popular for both beginners and experts alike.

Owner Margaret Bancroft says horse riding offers people the chance to venture where a vehicle cannot go.

"Horse-riding is like nothing else; it's peaceful and tranquil, and you get to experience some of the most wonderful scenery and be close to nature at the same time."

SOAR TO NEW HEIGHTS

In 1980, Balloon Aloft offered the first passenger hot air balloon flights in Australia. Over forty years later, they remain the market leader, delivering the highest quality balloon flights and service.

Take off at sunrise, ascend into the sky and float gently along with the breeze, taking in views of the picturesque wine regions of Pokolbin, Lovedale, Rothbury or Broke – from just above the treetops or at heights of 2000 feet or more.

The one-hour balloon flight is followed by a delicious gourmet breakfast at Restaurant Cuvee, situated within the famous Peterson House complex. It truly is the perfect place to sit back, relax and savour the flight of a lifetime you just experienced.

Balloon Aloft can cater their daily sunrise balloon flights for individuals, corporate groups or intimate VIP flights. It could also be the perfect moment to pop the question.

Hot air ballooning is an adventure activity, and whilst there are no fixed timelines, your entire experience, including breakfast after the flight, should take approximately 3.5 – 4.5 hours.
