Something Sweet is Coming to Maitland and Lake Macquarie
Newcastle Permanent’s Cinema Under the Stars back this spring!
Newcastle Permanent’s iconic Cinema Under the Stars program is returning to Maitland and Lake Macquarie in October, taking the community on an adventure to a world of pure imagination.
The event will feature the new sugary, sweet film, Wonka (PG,2023), and there will be no need for a golden ticket as this family-friendly event will be free to attend.
Newcastle Permanent Chief Distribution Officer, Paul Juergens, said the customer-owned organisation is delighted to host the open-air cinema event in the Hunter again this year.
“It is wonderful to see our community come together each year for Cinema Under the Stars, which has become an event loved by so many in throughout the Hunter,” he said.
“This year’s event will be jam-packed with fun activities, roving acts, tasty food, free popcorn and live music to enjoy.
“Cinema Under the Stars is for all ages, with plenty of activities for the little ones before the movie starts at sundown, which is sure to have you singing along to the soundtrack with its perfect mix of new hits. as well as the classics that we all know and love.
“This film is sure to set off the sweet tooth, so pack your favourite treats, gather your loved ones, and join us for a spectacular evening under the stars.”

Maitland: Friday 11 October, Maitland Park
Lake Macquarie: Saturday 12 October, Speers Point Park
Time: Live entertainment from 5.30pm, with the film to commence at sundown
