Craft Beer Haven: a Gateway to Wine Country

the valley brewhouse

The Valley Brewhouse, formerly known as Potter’s Hotel, with the familiar landmark of heritage-listed brickwork kilns out the front of the property, is located at the gateway to wine country in Nulkaba and offers award-winning craft beers, delicious food, and live entertainment, with a family-friendly, home-away-from-home vibe.

Owned and operated by Campbell Rogers and business partner Josh Gamgee of Rogers Hotels, the pair purchased the business in March of this year, and are keen to connect with the local community as much as with the tourism trade. Rogers Hotels also owns and operates several venues across Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, including the Sunnyside Tavern, the Mayfield Hotel, the Colliery Inn, the Central Hotel in Stroud and the Holmesville Hotel.

“It’s all about creating an environment that people enjoy and want to spend time in,” said Campbell.

“It has to be fun, safe, and serve delicious food. All our venues are

a little different and a bit quirky in their own way. The Valley Brewhouse is obviously a craft beer brewery, and it’s our first time working in this space. It’s a lot of fun.”

When it comes to the crafting of beer, The Valley Brewhouse is in excellent hands, with brewers Keith Grice and Daniel Gayner at the helm. Grice is considered one of the founders of craft beer in Hunter Valley wine country, and he’s been brewing at this brewery and winning awards since 2007. Visitors to the Valley Brewhouse can take brewery tours and guided tastings, which are widely considered to be the best in the business and a must for any beer-loving visitor to the Hunter.

Set on five acres with a massive lawn featuring twenty picnic tables and a very large, brand-new kids’ playground, the bistro serves premium pub-style food and, on weekends the Smoke House Kitchen, located outdoors in the Beer Garden, serves up melt-in-the-mouth smoked meats.

With ten craft beers on tap and a changing menu of creative brews developed by the onsite team, as well as regular live music and plenty of space to relax and enjoy yourself, The Valley Brewhouse is worth repeated visits! Open seven days until late, you’ll find it on Wine Country Drive at Nulkaba.
